Job Purpose and Goals:

An Associate Director of Life Groups / Life Group Coach supports and advances the Life Groups Team in the relational disciple-making strategy. This relational disciple-making strategy is a beautiful expression of our ongoing LBC Vision Statement: Coming together to know Jesus, become more like Him, and help others do the same. A coach invests in and equips lay leaders to know, love, and lead their Life Group members. This role also collaborates with the Men’s, Women’s, and Care Ministries to effectively coordinate ministry efforts and provide appropriate support resources to Life Group leaders and members.

This specific role focuses on serving, equipping, and supporting Life Group Leaders who are leading “Young Adult” Life Groups (Typically people in their 20’s and 30’s), while also offering support to other leaders when needed. The coach will lead and equip Life Group leaders to effectively and biblically shepherd their Life Group members.

The five key roles for this ‘seat’ are:

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Coaching and Equipping Life Group Leaders

· Investing in and equipping Life Group leaders to effectively shepherd their Life Groups members. Pray for leaders, Life Groups and Life Groups Ministry as a whole.

· Serve as the primary resource for assigned Life Group Leaders by being available and offering guidance on how to lead a Life Group, skillfully manage difficult conversations, navigate group development dynamics, listen, and coordinate support resources.

· Communicate with their assigned Life Group Leaders passing on Life Group Communications, meeting with each leader at least once per session and texting encouragement.

· Managing assigned Life Groups in the Ministry Platform software, adding, or removing people, as well as, prepping assigned Life Groups for Open Enrollment sessions.

· Mentor/develop Life Group leaders, apprentice Life Group leaders while watching to identify potential Life Group leaders. Participate in interviews of new leaders. Multiply Life Groups by equipping and releasing apprentice Life Group leaders to assume leadership of a new or existing Life Group.

· Update the Life Groups Team on the health, status, next steps, and stories of their assigned Life Groups.

Providing Care and Shepherding

· Serves as a Life Group Leader, seeking to model what it means to be invested and engaged in the lives and growth of their group members.

· Personally shepherd their assigned Life Group leaders encouraging them to implement the same intentionality with their own group members.

· Shepherd and care for all Life Group members in the demographic, offering support, encouragement, and utilizing available resources to meet tangible needs when made aware.

· In alignment with LBC's relational disciple-making strategy and based on demographic needs, develop an annual calendar of larger events.

Coordinating Support Resources for Life Group Leaders

· Maintain awareness of any specific Life Group leader/member needs that may warrant focused support ministry resources.

· Coordinate with support ministries (Men’s, Women’s, Care) to assist Life Group leaders with needed resources to effectively shepherd and care for Life Group members.

· Prepare/Teach classes aligned with the LBC mission and vision, as needed.

Participating in the Life Groups Team

· Attend and actively participate in all Life Group Ministry Gatherings/Trainings as may be required.

· Collaborate and assist with events as needed.

· Participate in Life Group L10’s (weekly meetings).

· Contribute to training and development ideas for Life Group Leaders

General Ministry Responsibilities

· Coach and mentor ministry lay leaders and volunteers as assigned.

· Be present and available on Sunday mornings and occasional Saturday evening services.

· Serve with other ministry staff on the On-Call Team, which ministers to the needs of the church family.

· Perform weddings, funerals, baptisms as requested.

· Other duties as assigned by the Director of Life Groups

Education, Skills, and Background

· Associate’s Degree required / Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

· 2+ years experience in “coaching”, leadership development and/or leading people

· Healthy and growing relationship with Jesus Christ

· Highly relational, able to connect with a variety of people.
