LBC Youth High School Director

Overview

The High School Director will be the point person for developing a high school ministry that engages students, allows them to experience Jesus, and helps them make the next steps in their understanding and relationship with Him. We are looking for a person who wholeheartedly loves Jesus and His church and has a passion for teenagers. This person will be part of the Student Ministry Team and will be given the freedom to create engaging and powerful experiences for students. The ideal candidate is someone who is creative, innovative, self-starter, and excited about students and designing environments where high school students can experience Jesus, have fun, and connect with each other. This person will operate as part of a team that is committed in leading, equipping, and unleashing this generation into the world for Jesus.

  • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ demonstrated in character as outlined in I Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • A humble and teachable spirit born out of personal security in Christ and an understanding of his/her God-given ability
  • A life dependent on the Holy Spirit and faith as demonstrated by an active prayer life
  • Has a vision for both reaching the lost and for developing, encouraging, discipling and inspiring students to grow in their relationship with Jesus.
  • Understands and lives by an equipping ministry model and has the people skills necessary to build a team and train leaders for ministry.
  • Loves people and Lincoln Berean Church and regularly attends weekend services
  • Supports the core beliefs of LBC
  • Trustworthy, honest and considers confidentiality a priority
  • Detail-oriented, high-energy, flexible, and energized by this ministry

The Details

  • High School Ministry Program
    • Plan and execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high energy services for high school students with the target of engaging community students to allow them experience Jesus and make a next step into the small group ministry
    • Develop small group ministry where students meet during the week to grow in their understanding of the Bible, how it applies to their lives, and to develop a plan to live their faith out
    • Work with youth pastor, worship director, middle school director, and administrative assistant to make sure all aspects of the high school program are covered including check-in, worship, tech, and small groups
    • Attend one (non church) student event a week on average (game, concert, show, etc…)
    • In collaboration with the student ministry team, create and manage a high school student ministry calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • Meet with youth staff weekly to discuss message series, talk with teacher for the week, and brainstorm programming elements
    • Attend the middle school ministry twice a month and be an active part in what the middle school is doing.
    • Complete all needed trainings, staff meetings, and continuing education assignments.
    • Be an active part of the student ministry team in unity, action, and fun
    • Work with youth pastor to set normal office hours and ministry goals
  • Volunteers
    • Be a part of defining expectations and qualifications for volunteers
    • In collaboration with the student ministry team, direct the recruitment, training, and development of volunteers as needed to staff weekly programs and special events
    • Evaluate volunteers and help them make their next step in their relationship with Jesus and service in the high school ministry
  • High School Ministry Events
    • Schedule 2-3 events for high school each year – some of which will work in cooperation with the middle school ministry
    • Empower and equip small group leaders to execute an event each semester for their small group
    • Give specific purpose for each event – outreach, growth, etc.
    • Point person for events – delegate responsibilities to staff and workers, oversee registration, contracts, and follow up with venues
    • Create and give direct oversight for budgets, timelines, and policies
  • Administrative – Work with the administrative assistant to execute details for the ministry

What You Bring

Skills:

  • Relational – Highly relational with students, volunteers, and parents.  Able to connect with people and have the maturity to know appropriate boundaries and expectations
  • Creative – Must have the ability to be innovative in developing programs and experiences that connect with students and ultimately connect them with the Truth of Jesus
  • At least 3 yrs experience in developing high school programs/events for students, preferably in a church of 1000+ total people in attendance
  • Organized and detail oriented – foresees potential conflicts; able to think through a process and identify details that need to be addressed
  • Self-Starter – Able to function without being micro-managed and takes initiative with tasks
  • Teacher – Able to teach effectively to middle and high school students, will be one of the core team of teachers for the student ministry
  • Flexible – Able to easily switch between routine, weekly tasks and random needs that come up
  • Team Player – Passionate to see this team and ministry succeed. Humble enough to take direction and insightful enough to give helpful input
  • Tech Savvy – You are competent in tech programs like ProPresenter, lighting software, and Planning Center or have the ability to learn how to use, train, and assist workers on these programs
  • Love to Serve – Jump into any spot needed - No task is too big and no task is beneath you

Church-wide Responsibilities

  • Regularly participate in the overall church life at Lincoln Berean Church, cultivating an atmosphere of unity and encouragement among all ministries, staff and attendees
  • Faithfully attend and participate in all LBC staff meetings, functions and community-building opportunities

 

Position Title: LBC Youth High School Director
Reports to: Youth Ministry Pastor
Hours: Full-time, salary
