Job Purpose and Goals:
We are seeking a talented and reliable maintenance technician to join our maintenance department. In this position, your chief responsibility is to maintain the condition and functionality of facilities. To excel in this position, you must be an outstanding problem-solver with exceptional communication and organizational skills. A Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping the facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Technician will be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around the facility such as carpentry, electrical, heating and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, etc. based on the Technician’s skill set.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform work safely and in compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency and follow relevant safety protocols.
- Conduct maintenance of electrical systems.
- Support the setup of HVAC, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.
- Inspect emergency systems such as carbon dioxide and fire protection and quickly schedule repairs when needed.
- Performing routine maintenance around the building such as fixing aesthetic or structural damage, for example, window, door, or wall repair.
- Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Inspecting buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues and ensuring compliance to applicable standards and requirements.
- Performing general maintenance tasks including landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of inspections and issues.
- Training junior staff as required.
Competencies and Skills: To perform this job successfully, the following competencies should be demonstrated:
- Proven ability to work with minimal supervision, completing a scheduled workload as well as finding unassigned work
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication
- Able to anticipate needs before they arise
- Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
- Ability to use standard tools and equipment including drills, impact drivers, saws, grinders, hammers, wrenches, etc.
- Good math skills
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:
- Ability to push/lift 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders
- Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures
- Excellent manual dexterity
- Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
- Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints
- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active.
Education/Experience:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or HVAC.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must demonstrate clear and appropriate oral and written communication skills.
- Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multi-task.
- Technical certification in a relevant field is a plus.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of general maintenance processes and methods.
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices.
- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
